Since the horrific attack on January 6th, the U.S. Capitol is hardly recognizable. Fencing and barbed wire surround the entire complex, while soldiers from the National Guard patrol every corner. While I’m grateful for the brave men and women protecting our seat of American democracy, I’m deeply concerned by the idea of these barriers becoming permanent.
