Restoring confidence in U.S. elections

This past month, I voted in favor of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, sponsored by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX). This legislation amends the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to require proof of United States citizenship to register an individual to vote in elections for Federal office. Within the last decade, more than 11,000 aliens were added to Virginia's voter rolls. Only a few years ago, at least 616 known aliens were added to New Jersey's voter registration system. Since 2021, nearly 200 aliens have appeared on Arizona voter rolls.

Congress cannot allow individuals to continue to manipulate our elections and benefit from the border crisis at the expense of American families.

Condemning the ICC's treatment of Prime Minister Netanyahu

Last month, I introduced a resolution condemning the International Criminal Court's treatment of Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant. In May, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court requested arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant for "war crimes."

It is not a war crime to defend yourself against terrorists who seek to wipe your people off the face of the earth. The International Criminal Court should immediately withdraw its arrest warrant applications for Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant.

Maintaining true Title IX protections

I recently supported Rep. Mary Miller's (R-IL) Congressional Review Act resolution to stop the Biden Administration's final Title IX rule. This new rule eliminates critical protections for women and girls by removing female-only areas like locker rooms and bathrooms, and allowing biological males to compete in women's sports. I have two daughters and a granddaughter, and I am appalled by the liberal's failure to acknowledge biological reality, which jeopardizes women's chances of success.

Congress must continue fight to maintain true Title IX protections and ensure that every woman is free to flourish in a safe environment.

Renaming the Dothan post office after an Alabama veteran

It is a blessing that my  legislation to rename the United States Post Office located at 379 N Oates Street in Dothan as the LaBruce 'Bruce' Tidwell Post Office passed the House of Representatives. Bruce Tidwell enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 and served as a Radio Operator on the LCT 801. Born and raised in Dothan, AL, Bruce returned to Dothan after the war ended in 1945 and began working in the Dothan Oil Mill. After a few years, Bruce wanted to continue serving his community and decided to become a letter carrier in 1957. Bruce was beloved by the Dothan community, where he lived for a total of 86 years. There is no better Post Office to rename than the exact location in Dothan where Bruce worked.

Questioning FBI Director Wray on the Trump assassination attempt

At a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024, former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. President Trump took a round to the ear, which left him injured, one rallygoer dead, and two others critically injured. The weaknesses of the Secret Service have given rise to serious concerns.

I recently had the opportunity to join the House Judiciary Committee and question FBI Director Wray regarding the events at the Trump Rally in Butler, Pennsylvania that led to an assassination attempt. The American people deserve to get answers from FBI Director Wray about how this event was able to take place.

Holding Merrick Garland Accountable

Last month, I took a stand for the American people and voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in inherent contempt of Congress for not responding to a lawfully issued subpoena. We asked the Speaker of the House to fine Garland $10,000 daily until he provides the audio recordings of President Biden's interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur regarding his alleged mishandling of classified documents.

The power of inherent contempt has been used by Congress since 1795, and is crucial for enforcing subpoenas and carrying out legislative duties. The American people deserve to know what’s on those tapes.

Urging the creation of a task force to study the Trump assassination attempt

This past month, I voted in support of a resolution to establish a bipartisan task force on the attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump. The task force will be empowered with subpoena authority to investigate the shortfalls of Secret Service and other personnel that led to an assassin getting within 150 feet of President Trump. The security failures that led to an attempt on President Donald Trump's life are shocking.

We need to pray for our nation now more than ever.

United we stand, divided we fall.

Meeting the 2024 Congressional Art Competition winner

I had the privilege of meeting the 2024 Congressional Art Competition winner, Neo Minjoon Choi, a junior at Pike Road High School, and his family this past month during their visit to DC.

It is an honor to have Neo Minjoon Choi's beautiful artwork represent the Second Congressional District of Alabama in the United States Capitol, and congratulations to Neo! Thank you for participating in this year's competition.

Thank you to our judges and every student who submitted their wonderful art!

$35 Trillion

Last week, the U.S. national debt soared to a staggering $35 trillion, just a few months after the nation's debt crossed over to $34 trillion on January 4th. This number equates to $103,827 per citizen and $267,404 for every single American taxpayer.

President Biden's reckless spending policies have led to a $35 trillion national debt that will punish our children and grandchildren, who will inherit it. I will continue to fight for fiscal responsibility in Washington because our national debt is one of our greatest threats to the future.
