Welcome to our May wrap-up newsletter. From having my first pieces of legislation pass as amendments to the GI Bill NEED Act to meeting some of you at our latest events back in Alabama, we’ve had quite a productive month. It’s truly an honor to serve you and your family in Congress.

HIGHLIGHTS
Helping our Veterans
When I arrived in Washington, I promised you that I would fight for our veterans. I’m honored to keep that promise.
Last month, the GI Bill Need Act, which included two of my bills as amendments, passed the House. My legislation, the Colonel John McHugh Tuition Fairness for Survivors Act and the Overseeing the GI Bill Act of 2021, take positive strides towards offering better support for our nation’s heroes and their families here at home.

Witnessing the Biden Border Crisis
I joined several of my colleagues on a trip to El Paso, Texas, where we heard directly from Border Patrol agents and witnessed the overwhelmed facilities firsthand. While daily encounters reach 20-year highs and cartels continue smuggling dangerous drugs across the border, the Biden administration is nowhere to be found - despite causing this mess.
Earlier this week, I penned an op-ed with Mark Meadows, former Chief of Staff for President Trump, to explain why we owe it to the American people to return to commonsense immigration policies.

Henry Town Hall
I enjoyed meeting many of you at our Henry County Town Hall, where we discussed some of the toughest challenges facing our nation. I always appreciate the opportunity to answer your questions about my work in Washington.
Please visit theEvents page on our website and follow our pages on social media to stay informed on future town halls.

Standing Against Critical Race Theory
Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a radical worldview that argues our society can only be understood through racial identities. In other words, CRT believes every aspect of our lives is defined by the color of our skin. Ultimately, Critical Race Theory doesn’t unite Americans, it divides us.
Teaching children that they are defined solely by their race and categorized as either an oppressor or oppressed based on the color of their skin will dramatically erase decades of forward progress and forces children to become hyper-focused on what makes them different rather than the unifying commonalities they share with their fellow Americans. I’m proud to work with my colleagues to prohibit these harmful practices.

Touring Farms Across the District
Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to stop by several farms across our district. From touring the Brown family’s poultry farm in Ramer to seeing Mr. Bozeman’s production of corn and peanuts in Elba, I always enjoy meeting the hard working Alabama farmers who feed and fuel our nation.

Meeting with Home Builders of Alabama
I had a wonderful time meeting with members of the Home Builders of Alabama last week. We had a productive discussion about their legislative priorities, including how soaring inflation is negatively impacting building materials and consumers.

Honoring Our Nation’s Fallen Heroes
On Memorial Day, I was honored to deliver the invocation at the Wiregrass Memorial Day Ceremony at Sunset Memorial Park in Dothan. We must always remember that freedom isn’t free. God bless our fallen heroes, those who have served, and those who are currently serving.
