Rep. Moore takes stand against harmful, divisive Critical Race Theory teachings
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Barry Moore released the following statement after taking several actions to counter the government-sponsored spread of the Critical Race Theory:
“The Critical Race Theory doesn’t chip away at inequity, it perpetuates it,” said Rep. Moore. “Teaching children that they are defined solely by their race and categorized as either an oppressor or oppressed based on the color of our skin will dramatically erase decades of forward progress and forces children to become hyper-focused on what makes them different rather than the unifying commonalities they share with their fellow Americans. Federal funds should not be used to promote divisive modern-day tribalism, and I am proud to work with my colleagues to prohibit these harmful practices.”
Background:
Rep. Moore became an original co-sponsor of Rep. Chip Roy’s (R-TX) Combatting Racist Teaching in Schools Act which prohibits federal funds from going to any elementary, secondary school, or institution of higher education that promotes race-based theories.

On Friday, May 7, Rep. Moore became an original cosponsor of Rep. Mark Green’s (R-TN) bill to prohibit Federal Service Academies – including the U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Air Force Academy – from providing education and training based on the Critical Race Theory.

Rep. Moore also joined Rep. Ken Calvert and 19 other Members of Congress in calling on President Biden to reconsider the Department of Education’s proposed rule, which – using the widely-condemned 1619 Project as its model – prioritizes Federal education funding for institutions that incorporate critical race theory in their teaching.
