The Moore You Know Newsletter: February 2021
The Moore You Know
Welcome to our monthly wrap-up newsletter. From witnessing the devastating crisis President Biden has created at our southern border to protecting religious freedom in Washington, February was filled with tough challenges. Through it all, I’m honored to represent and defend your values in Congress.
Sincerely,
Congressman Barry Moore
HIGHLIGHTS

Visiting Our Southern Border
I had the incredible opportunity to join several of my Republican colleagues on a trip to the United States-Mexico border in southern Arizona. During our visit, we witnessed the Trump administration’s incredible progress toward securing our southern border, including tripling the height of the border wall.
Despite these great achievements, President Biden halted further construction of the wall, while supporting policies that incentivize illegal immigration. Make no mistake, weakening border security only creates an easier path for drug cartels, human traffickers, and criminals to enter the country. Now more than ever, we must put Americans’ safety and livelihoods first by securing our southern border.

Voting Against Pelosi’s Progressive State Payout
Last week, I voted against the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan. With only 9% of the funds actually going toward public health, this pricey legislation was nothing but a liberal Christmas wishlist packed as COVID relief. Partisan pork spending does nothing to help struggling small businesses or students suffering from remote learning.
Not to mention, $1 trillion from previous stimulus legislation remains unspent. Further burdening our national debt while these allocated funds remain untouched is careless and irresponsible. Due to my concerns, I voted against the Democrats’ blue state bailout that clearly failed to meet the needs of the American people.
Discussing Election Integrity with Secretary of State Merrill
Productive meeting in our State Capitol with Secretary of State John Merrill. Since our great state serves as a leader in election integrity, we discussed how we can point to Alabama’s policies for other states to follow.
Honored to Serve
I’m honored to announce that I have been selected to serve as the Ranking Member for the Economic Opportunity Subcommittee on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. As a veteran turned small business owner, I am humbled by the opportunity to serve. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to achieve bipartisan solutions that promote veterans’ career advancements and give them the tools they need to succeed following their military service.

Voting Against the Radical Equality Act
Last week, I voted against H.R. 5, the Equality Act. Don’t be fooled by the title; this bill is unequal, unfair, and unjust. By adding “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” as protected classes under federal civil rights law, this bill penalizes Americans for their beliefs on biological sex.
Forcing individuals to disregard their values in order to appease radical policies is wrong. I’m proud to defend families, businesses, and organizations’ Constitutional right to religious freedom.

Meeting with Governor Ivey
Enjoyed visiting with Governor Ivey to discuss Alabama’s COVID vaccine distribution program. As we fight back against the coronavirus, I look forward to working together to ensure Alabamians are safe and healthy.
