Rep. Barry Moore welcomes summer interns to Washington
Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Barry Moore (AL-02) announced that Katelyn Bussey, Daisy Bruce, Reagan Nelson, Anna Beth Payne, Callen Woodard, and Taylor Keel began new positions as summer interns for his office in Washington, D.C.
“We’re excited to welcome our news interns to Team Moore for the summer,” said Moore. “It’s important to have young Alabamians learn firsthand how Congress operates while learning valuable skills and gaining important networking opportunities. I’m confident that they will greatly benefit our staff and serve AL02 well throughout the summer months.”
“I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to intern on Capitol Hill; this whole experience is truly priceless,” Katelyn said. “Working for Congressman Moore and his staff has been amazing so far, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of summer has in store."
Katelyn grew up in Birmingham, where she attended Briarwood Christian School until she graduated in 2018. She is now a rising Senior at Auburn University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a minor in Political Science. Katelyn is an active member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and volunteers at The Boys and Girls Club of Opelika in her free time. While living in D.C., she is excited to gain insightful experience with our nation's government, forge meaningful relationships with fellow interns, and attend a Washington Nationals game.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to assist Congressman Moore and his staff in fighting for Alabama’s Second Congressional District,” Daisy said. “I am excited for this experience and know it will serve me well in my future pursuits."
Daisy grew up in Troy, Alabama, where she attended Pike Liberal Arts School. After graduating in 2018, she continued her education at the University of Mississippi. She is currently a rising Senior at Ole Miss, pursuing a double major in Political Science and Southern Studies. Daisy is involved in many campus organizations, including Pi Beta Phi, AKPSI, College Republicans, YAF, Turning Point USA, and The Network of Enlightened Women. While living in D.C., she hopes to gain experience in public policy and political advocacy to aid her in her future career path.
“I’m so grateful to have this opportunity for hands-on learning,” Reagan said. “I’ve always loved history and government, so it feels unreal to have this experience in a city that’s so central to my studies. I’m excited to see what doors God opens for me while I’m here.”
With her military family frequently called back to Fort Rucker, Reagan spent much of her childhood in Enterprise. She graduated from Enterprise High School in 2019 and currently attends Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, where she is pursuing dual degrees in International Relations and History. In her free time, she enjoys playing Quiz Bowl and attending Alexander Hamilton Society events.
While in Washington, D.C., Reagan hopes to build on her classroom learning by attending briefings on foreign affairs and economics. She looks forward to learning more about the legislative process, making new friends, and visiting the Smithsonian museums.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to intern for Congressman Barry Moore, especially because he is the Congressman from my district,” Anna Beth said. “I am eager to learn more about the legislative process and grateful I get to learn from some of the best. It has truly been the best experience and I am excited to see what the rest of the summer will bring.”
Anna Beth was born and raised in Enterprise and graduated from Enterprise High School in 2018. After graduating high school, she went on to the University of Alabama, where she is currently a rising Senior majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Political Science. During her time in Tuscaloosa, she served as Student Government Association (SGA) senator for her college, SGA executive secretary, and currently serves as director of outreach and event planning for Not On My Campus (NOMC), an organization that aims to bring awareness of sexual assault on college campuses. She is also an active member of her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, where she serves on the executive board as panhellenic delegate.
Last summer, she had the pleasure of interning for the Business Council of Alabama (BCA) and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). During her time at BCA, she was given the opportunity to speak with many state chambers about their efforts to help small businesses in the midst of the pandemic. While at ADECA, she had the chance to be on the 2020 Census Intern Team, where she assisted with the promotion of completing the Alabama Census.
She is excited for the opportunity to gain knowledge from the staff and fellow colleagues, and form new and lasting relationships this summer in Washington D.C.
“I was born and raised in Alabama’s Second Congressional District," Callen said. "Being able to work for the betterment of the District that has given me so much over the years is an honor and pleasure. I can’t wait to see what this experience has in store for me!”

Upon graduation in Spring 2022, Callen plans to attend law school and use her experiences in D.C. to guide her future career path.
“I am honored for the privilege to be able to gain practical experience through Congressman Moore’s office this summer," Taylor said. "My time in the office thus far has been the most memorable, and I have deeply enjoyed the wisdom and mentorship that the staff has provided that will last through my professional career. My favorite part has been the ability to try out different roles, such as attending legislative briefings, writing drafts, and scheduling to see what I hope to be when I return to the Hill.”

The highlight of her high school career was being able to serve as Alabama 4-H Ambassador President during her senior year, which sparked her passion for public service.
