Rep. Barry Moore votes to stop settlement slush funds

January 11, 2024

Washington, D.C. — Rep. Barry Moore released a statement after voting in support of H.R. 788, the Stop Settlement Slush Funds Act of 2023, sponsored by Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX). This legislation would eliminate an Obama-era rule President Biden revived to pay out his political cronies that forces defendants to pay a portion of their settlement funds to liberal activist groups.

"Funneling settlement dollars to political activists is nothing more than extortion to fund Biden's radical agenda," said Moore. "Congress cannot allow the Biden Administration to circumvent our Constitutional power of the purse to fund their activist pet projects."
