Rep. Barry Moore votes to hold AG Garland in contempt of Congress

June 12, 2024

Washington, D.C.- Today, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for his refusal to turn over recordings of President Biden's interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur regarding his mishandling of classified documents.

"One of our most important constitutional responsibilities in Congress is oversight," said Rep. Moore. "As part of his investigation, Special Counsel Hur concluded that Biden’s memory is too poor for him to be prosecuted for his mishandling of classified documents, which is a significant conclusion to reach about the President of the United States. Biden's conversation with Hur was a key piece that helped him reach this conclusion, and the American people deserve to hear it. AG Garland should be held accountable for helping Biden hide these recordings."
