Rep. Barry Moore votes against war powers resolution withdrawing American troops from Syria
Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) voted against H.Con.Res.21, a resolution that would end United States involvement in Syria within 15 days of its adoption. The U.S. currently has an estimated 900 troops stationed in Syria. U.S. and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) recently partnered in a helicopter raid in northeastern Syria that wounded four Americans and ultimately killed a senior ISIS leader. "As we saw during Biden's failed withdrawal from Afghanistan, a hasty exit from Syria risks the lives of the servicemembers stationed there,” said Moore. "I do not support endless wars, but I cannot condone another rushed exit from a country in turmoil that puts American lives at risk, leaves the work our servicemembers have already done in jeopardy, and could leave sensitive, proprietary equipment behind for terrorist groups or other adversaries to utilize." |
