Rep. Barry Moore takes action against ICC overreach
Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 8282, the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, legislation that would impose sanctions on International Criminal Court (ICC) officials who investigate or prosecute citizens of the United States and allied countries, including Israel, neither of which recognize the ICC’s authority. Moore is also a co-sponsor of this legislation. The ICC recently requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
This bill imposes sanctions and revokes the visas of any ICC employee or associate attempting to investigate, detain, arrest, or prosecute citizens of the U.S. and allied countries that do not recognize the ICC.
“The International Criminal Court condemning Israeli officials for defending their country is unacceptable," said Moore. "Israel has every right to hold Hamas accountable for murdering 1,200 innocent civilians on October 7th and continuing its mission to wipe Israel off the map. We must send a clear message against the ICC's overreach into matters outside its jurisdiction."
