Rep. Barry Moore supports Senator Tuberville's effort to stop Department of Defense funding travel for elective abortions

March 29, 2023

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Barry Moore released the following statement in support of Senator Tommy Tuberville's pledge to block any civilian, flag, and general officer nominations until the Department of Defense halts its funding of travel and paid time off for out-of-state elective abortions.

“I am grateful to Senator Tuberville for standing up for American taxpayers by blocking civilian, flag, and general officer nominations until the Department of Defense obeys the law and halts its funding of travel and paid time off for out-of-state elective abortions,” said Moore. “If this upsets Senator Schumer and Secretary Austin, the solution is simple: stop politicizing our military. There has been a bipartisan consensus for more than 40 years that taxpayers should not be forced to fund abortion, and Senator Tuberville is asking the Biden Administration to honor that consensus rather than turning our Department of Defense into an abortion travel agency without the consent of taxpayers or Congress.”
