Rep. Barry Moore supports SAVE America Act to strengthen election integrity
Washington, D.C.- Congressman Barry Moore (AL-01) is supporting the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act, legislation introduced by Congressman Chip Roy (TX-21) to strengthen election integrity and ensure only U.S. citizens vote in federal elections.
“American elections should only be decided by American citizens,” said Congressman Moore. “After years of record illegal immigration and weak enforcement under the Biden Administration, the SAVE America Act would enact common-sense safeguards like proof of citizenship and photo ID. This bill protects American voters, strengthens confidence in our elections, and ensures every legal vote counts. Securing the ballot box is essential to preserving self-government, and Congress has a responsibility to act. I’m proud to stand with President Trump and my colleagues to defend election integrity.”
The SAVE America Act would:
- Require individuals to present an eligible photo ID before voting.
- Ensure states must verify citizenship, in person, when registering an individual to vote.
- Require states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls.
- Empower citizens to bring civil suits against election officials that fail to uphold the SAVE Act's proof of citizenship requirements.
- Direct the Election Assistance Commission to update any guidance associated with the SAVE Act, streamline updates to federal forms, and ensure states with same-day registration can comply with the bill.
