Rep. Barry Moore supports Laken Riley Act

March 7, 2024

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Barry Moore voted in favor of the Laken Riley Act, sponsored by Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA). Moore is a co-sponsor of this legislation. Laken Riley was a nursing student with a bright future who was murdered by an illegal immigrant on the campus of the University of Georgia. This legislation, in honor of her life, would require Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain illegal immigrants who are charged with local theft or burglary. Thanks to President Biden's policies, more than 600,000 illegal aliens with criminal charges are currently in the United States.

"We owe it to Laken Riley, her family, and the many other victims of illegal aliens with criminal convictions to end these tragedies,” said Moore. "The longer Biden and Schumer wait to take action, the more Americans they put in danger. I urge them to pass this legislation alongside of H.R.2, which would secure our border, immediately."
