Rep. Barry Moore supports FY26 appropriations package to bolster national security, invest in critical infrastructure, and support Alabama families
Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Barry Moore (AL-01) supported House passage of the FY26 appropriations package funding Defense, Homeland Security, Transportation–HUD, and Labor–HHS. This legislation delivers wins for American security, workers, and taxpayers.
“This appropriations package delivers exactly what the American people gave Congress a mandate to accomplish - a stronger military, a secure border, modernized infrastructure, and a return to funding the government through regular order after decades of Washington waste,” said Congressman Moore. “House Republicans are advancing President Trump's America First agenda by supporting our troops, enforcing the rule of law, protecting workers and families, and rejecting radical policies that weakened our country under Joe Biden.”
The Defense and Homeland Security bills in this package invest in American security by:
- rebuilding U.S. military strength with a 3.8 percent pay raise for servicemembers
- strengthen missile defense
- eliminating funding for DEI programs and abortion-related travel
- securing the border by sustaining 22,000 Border Patrol agents
- funding detention and deportation of criminal illegal aliens
- cracking down on fentanyl trafficking
- ending taxpayer-funded NGO handouts tied to the Biden border crisis
These bills also invest in transportation safety and infrastructure by:
- hiring 2,500 air traffic controllers
- modernizing highways and airports
- enforcing Buy American requirements
- cutting billions in wasteful spending
Through Labor–HHS, we are supporting American families by:
- preserving the Hyde Amendment which prohibits taxpayer funding for abortion on demand
- reining in bureaucratic overreach
- rejecting woke mandates that put politics ahead of patients, parents, and workers
- maintaining the longstanding Dickey Amendment to ensure that federal funds cannot be used to advocate or promote restrictions on Second Amendment rights
As part of the FY26 appropriations process, Congressman Barry Moore successfully secured funding for critical infrastructure projects benefiting Alabama’s First Congressional District, including:
- $500,000 to the H.L. "Sonny" Callahan Airport for facility improvements
- $2,000,000 to the Baldwin County Commission to make improvements to County Road 64
- $2,000,000 to the Alabama Port Authority for a new stacker reclaimer to modernize coal handling equipment at the Port of Mobile's McDuffie Terminal
- $977,000 to Coffee County for a new Coffee County Emergency Operations Center to streamline communication among first responders and ensure the rapid mobilization of personnel and resources during critical incidents
