Rep. Barry Moore supports bill to strengthen U.S. support for an independent Taiwan

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) voted in support of H.R. 1159, the Taiwan Assurance Act Update, which will deepen and expand relations between the United States and Taiwan, giving due consideration to Taiwan as a representative democratic government and open and free society.

"As China continues to expand its authoritarian influence, the time is now to demonstrate our support for an independent Taiwan,” said Moore. "The Biden Administration's choice to cower to China by reinstating old restrictions on contacts between U.S. and Taiwanese officials weakens us on the world's stage and puts the American people at risk. I am proud to have joined many of my GOP colleagues in supporting a free and independent Taiwan."
