Rep. Barry Moore supports bill protecting parental rights

March 24, 2023

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) voted in support of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights. This legislation ensures that five principles are met by schools: the rights of parents to know what their children are being taught, the rights of parents to be heard by teachers and staff, the rights of parents to see the school budget and spending, the rights of parents to protect their child's privacy, and the rights of parents to be updated regarding any violent activity at school.

"Parents should be able to examine their child's classroom curriculum and protect their child's privacy and safety without fear of being targeted by the federal government and labeled as domestic terrorists,” said Moore. "I recently introduced legislation to abolish the Department of Education, but the Parents Bill of Rights is a step in the right direction for shedding light in the classroom. This legislation provides a framework for ensuring that parents are not kept in the dark when it comes to their child's education."
