Rep. Barry Moore supports bill to counter CCP threats

December 10, 2024

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Moore released a statement after voting in support of H.R. 9668, the SHIELD Against CCP Act. This legislation establishes a working group within the Department of Homeland Security to counter threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), including terrorism, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, border and port security concerns, and transportation security challenges. The SHIELD Against CCP Act would strengthen the U.S. government's ability to protect Americans from intellectual property theft, human trafficking, forced labor, and fentanyl trafficking by identifying gaps in current policies, encouraging agency collaboration, and ensuring transparency.

“The Chinese Communist Party is a clear and present threat to our national security," said Moore. "From trafficking fentanyl to buying up American farmland near our military installations, their actions demand a strong, swift, and united response. This bill ensures we are better prepared to confront these dangers.”
