December 5, 2024

Washington, D.C. — Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) released a statement after voting in support of H.R. 9598, the Office of National Drug Control Policy Reauthorization Act of 2024. This bipartisan bill reauthorizes critical programs to combat drug trafficking, support addiction recovery, and strengthen community-based initiatives. This includes funding key programs like the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas program and the Drug-Free Communities program. The legislation also directs resources toward stopping fentanyl trafficking and addressing the opioid crisis, making our communities safer and healthier.

“Fentanyl is wreaking havoc on our communities, tearing apart families, and putting our children at risk,” said Moore. “This legislation is a win for the safety of our country because it gives agencies the tools to fight against this deadly threat and hold drug traffickers accountable. We will not stand idly by while this poison crosses our borders and extinguishes American lives.”
