Rep. Barry Moore slams FDA standard changes that put women in danger

February 27, 2024

Washington, D.C. — Rep. Barry Moore signed an amicus brief regarding Food and Drug Administration vs. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine asking the Supreme Court to protect women and girls from the harmful abortion drugs that President Biden's Food and Drug Administration have allowed on the market.

In 2016 and 2021, the FDA removed nearly every safety standard it once determined essential for women’s health and safety, including the requirement that only doctors prescribe these high-risk drugs and also report all serious complications from using these drugs. As a result, abortion drugs are now being mailed to women without the benefit of an in-person doctor’s visit. One of out every 25 women who take these drugs end up in the emergency room.

"The Biden Administration prioritizes abortion so much that they're willing to compromise safety standards and put women's lives at risk,” said Moore. "The doctors who brought this case forward are on the front lines of women's health, witnessing the severe complications these drugs have caused for women across America. The FDA needs to return to its original safety standards and should be held accountable for violating its duty to protect women and girls."
