Rep. Barry Moore seeks Veteran, Gold Star Family member, or Active-Duty Spouse for special position

May 21, 2024

Washington, D.C.- Rep. Moore is seeking a Veteran, Gold Star family member, or Active-Duty spouse for a position in one of his district offices as a Green & Gold Congressional Aide. The person selected for the special position will work as a constituent advocate and community relations representative for constituents, local organizations, and federal, state, and local agencies.

“We make a promise to our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines that we will take care of them when they get back, and one of my top goals is to make sure we keep that promise,” said Moore. “That's why we team up with the Green and Gold Congressional Aide Program to help make sure that veterans and military members living in the U.S. can get the care and services they deserve from the federal government.”

The Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program was established by the House of Representatives to provide employment opportunities for Veterans, Gold Star Families, and Active-Duty Spouses within member offices.

The program is limited to Veterans, Gold Star Families, and Active-Duty Spouses who meet all of the requirements.

To qualify, veterans must meet all the following requirements:

  4. Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authorization (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program.

Gold Star Families:

  1. A surviving child (including a stepchild), spouse, parent, or sibling of: A person who dies in the line of duty while serving as a member of the Armed Forces (including the reserve components and the National Guard), regardless of the duty status of the member while serving, unless such death was as a result of the willful misconduct of the member; OR A family member of a Veteran with an Honorable Discharge who died of a service-connected disability (as defined in section 101 of title 38, United States Code) during the four-year period beginning on the date of the last discharge or release of the veteran from the Armed Forces.
