Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) participated in the House Judiciary Committee's hearing for the purposes of questioning Special Counsel John Durham on his report regarding the FBI's investigation of supposed "Russian collusion" by the 2016 Trump campaign. Moore questioned Durham about his findings on the Clinton campaign's solicitation of the Steele dossier, which Durham noted to be disinformation. From his exchange with Special Counsel Durham: Rep. Moore: "Can you connect the dots between the Clinton campaign and the [Crossfire Hurricane] investigation by the FBI?" Special Counsel Durham: "We did investigate what was behind that investigation, how did it get started, was it properly predicated and why did it continue with a lack of sufficient evidence." Rep. Moore: "Mr. Durham, is this failure sobering to you?" Special Counsel Durham: "What's sobering to me in connection with this investigation is that the FBI, the people who were involved in Crossfire Hurricane investigation, ignoring exculpatory information and discarding information that was inconsistent with the investigation's narrative and using information from the Steele dossier to establish probable cause to electronically surveil a United States citizen who happened to be a Naval Academy graduate." Rep Moore: "Mr. Durham, is it safe to say that the Clinton campaign colluded with the Russians to accuse Donald Trump of colluding with the Russians?" Special Counsel Durham: "I could not phrase it that way, but what I would say is that the Clinton campaign funded the information that showed up in the Steele dossier, the Clinton campaign funded the information that was put together concerning an alleged secret communications channel between Trump and Alpha Bank which was presented to the FBI." |
