Rep. Barry Moore pledges to oppose pet projects from Senators who vote for disastrous spending bill
Washington, D.C. — Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) released the following statement after joining Rep. Chip Roy and 29 of his House Republican colleagues in a letter pledging to oppose any legislative priority of those senators who vote for the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill. The letter, first reported by Fox News, argues that the only leverage Republicans have to block the Biden administration’s policies is to use the constitutional power of the purse by blocking the omnibus. “Republicans can’t continue to tell voters ‘we are going to fight President Biden’s radical policies', but then fail to stand firm when tested,'" said Moore. "Now that we have leverage, we must use it. I refuse to look the other way as Congress advances politicians' pet projects at the expense of the priorities of hurting American families. Washington has neglected their interests for far too long, and my colleagues and I are pledging to defend them.” BACKGROUND: Last week, Rep. Moore opposed a one-week CR that extended government funding until hours before Christmas in attempt to force through this massive lame-duck spending bill. Since August, Moore has warned against a lame duck spending bill, including in an op-ed in The Hill. |
