Rep. Barry Moore opposes CR: "Shut down the border or shut down the government"
Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) voted against H.R. 2872, a continuing resolution (CR) which extends government funding through early March. Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, Energy and Water Development; Military Construction, Veterans Affairs; and Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development funding will expire March 1st.
Commerce, Justice, Science; Defense; Financial Services and General Government; Homeland Security; Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies; Labor, Health, and Human Services; Education, and Related Agencies; Legislative Branch; and State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs funding will expire March 8th. This resolution funds the government at the same levels decided by President Biden and Speaker Pelosi in 2021 with minimal spending cuts.
"Thanks to Biden's out-of-control spending, it took our country just 105 days to get from $33 trillion to $34 trillion in debt, so it's no surprise Americans are being forced to pay a 17% inflation tax on all goods and services," said Moore. "I voted against this continuing resolution because it contains no meaningful spending cuts, and Americans can't afford more inflation. This resolution also fails to address the crisis at our southern border that puts American families in danger every day. If Biden refuses to secure our southern border and put America first, Congress should refuse to fund a woke, weaponized and wasteful government. That's why I signed the Immigration Accountability Pledge -- we must shut down the border or shut down the government."
