Rep. Barry Moore opposes changes to Waters of the United States
Washington, D.C. — Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) recently joined Western Caucus Chairman Dan Newhouse (WA-04) in a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Regan and Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Michael Connor expressing his opposition to a new final rule defining "waters of the United States" that was implemented quietly by the Biden Administration on the last working day of 2022. The new rule discounts a pending Supreme Court case on Sackett v. EPA, which will address the scope of agency authority granted by Congress in the Clean Water Act.
"The Biden Administration kept Alabama farmers, foresters, and small business owners in the dark as it rushed to expand a rule that significantly affects their livelihood," said Moore. "Changing this rule is all about satisfying President Biden’s radical, wealthy environmentalist base and will cause confusion, waste hard-earned taxpayer dollars, and delay efforts to improve infrastructure and protect clean water. I am thankful to Chairman Newhouse and the Western Caucus for their leadership on this issue."
