Rep. Barry Moore opposes Biden and Pelosi’s blank check for socialist tax-and-spend scheme

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) issued the following statement after voting against Speaker Pelosi’s legislation to recklessly suspend the nation’s debt ceiling through the 2022 elections – enabling Democrats’ scheme to pass $5.5 trillion in additional spending – despite the federal government’s funding running out at midnight Thursday, October 30.

“This is very simple: if Congressional Democrats want to unilaterally ram through their socialist tax-and-spend scheme, Republicans will not simply hand them the nation’s credit card to do it,” said Moore. “Any sensible family or business would reconsider its spending habits if faced with crippling debt, yet Speaker Pelosi and President Biden think the answer to our $28.7 trillion debt is to apply to the Chinese Communist Party for a renewed line of credit to spend trillions more of your money. Whining Democrats are in control of the House, the Senate, and the White House, so instead of blaming Republicans as they continue to burn through the House calendar trying to force through the Biden socialist agenda, they need to get Congress back to performing its basic duties like funding our government."
