Washington D.C. - Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, appeared today on Newsmax's National Report with Shaun Kraisman and Emma Rechenberg live from the southern border near Yuma, Arizona. The Judiciary Committee is holding a field hearing today on the border entitled The Biden Border Crisis: Part II. Highlights of Moore's comments are below. The importance of an on-location field hearing: "The people of Yuma have a story to tell. The number of encounters they've had over the last three years, the difference in what the Trump administration was doing for this community and what's going on now under the current administration is a remarkable difference. It's a stark difference in how we handle the southern border." Why President Biden should visit Yuma: "If nothing else, it would show he actually puts American first. We have a president who globetrots around the world trying to solve other nations' problems and denies and ignores the problems right here in our very own country, whether its East Palestine or the U.S. southern border. These are things that this administration could lead on, and they've turned a deaf ear and a blind eye to the American people and the crises we face here in this country." What the committee will learn from today's hearing: "Now that [Chairman] Jim Jordan has brought the committee here, we have an opportunity to actually leverage these hearings to allow the American people to know what's going on... The fentanyl deaths, the 5 million encounters, the 20,000 children we have lost as they've come into this country unaccompanied, those are the kinds of stories we need to be telling the American people, that the media needs to cover, because the American people would be terribly upset to understand what's going on... "A closed border is a compassionate border. We cannot address immigration reform in this country until we close this southern border and get a handle on what's going on down here." |
