Rep. Barry Moore introduces Public Health Emergency Accountability Act
Washington, D.C. — Rep. Barry Moore introduced the Public Health Emergency Accountability Act. This legislation would allow public health emergencies, which are declared by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, to automatically terminate every 90 days. These emergency declarations would need to approval of Congress to extend beyond 90 days. This bill also terminates any current public health emergencies that are older than 90 days. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these declarations and renewals served as cover for states to issue lockdowns and vaccine mandates.
"Congress should do all we can to ensure Biden’s tyrannical mask mandates and vaccine passports never happen again," said Moore. "I am proud to introduce legislation that prevents the government from abusing its power to force these mandates by keeping them from extending a public health emergency without Congressional approval."
This legislation is endorsed by Heritage Action, the Foundation for Government Accountability, and Feds for Freedom.
