Rep. Barry Moore demands answers from Biden's DOJ on Eagle Forum subpoena
WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) signed an amicus brief objecting to the Biden Administration's Department of Justice serving a subpoena to Eagle Forum of Alabama regarding their advocacy for state level legislation to protect vulnerable children. Moore also recently joined the entire Alabama Republican delegation in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland asking for an explanation for this aggressive action against Eagle Forum. The letter was led by Rep. Gary Palmer (AL-06). “The Biden administration has shown time and again its eagerness to weaponize the executive branch against law-abiding Americans, and the DOJ’s subpoena of Eagle Forum of Alabama is only the latest egregious example," said Moore. "The Biden administration must explain its actions and stop abusing its authority in such an un-American and partisan manner.” The Republican delegation letter to Biden's DOJ requests: - Evidence that the DOJ has issued subpoenas to liberal organizations regarding political issues such as abortion-on-demand
- A list of all subpoenas to third parties not involved in the underlying case
- The reasoning for this subpoena being served to Eagle Forum of Alabama
- An explanation of the constitutional authority the DOJ believes it possesses to intimidate and harass individuals and organizations exercising their First Amendment rights
