Rep. Barry Moore announces summer district interns
Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Barry Moore (AL-02) announced that Nick McCarthy, Conner Sorrells, Hope Hill, and Lucas Lynn are serving as summer interns in his Dothan and Wetumpka offices.
“We’re excited to have these folks on Team Moore for the summer,” said Moore. “It’s important to have young Alabamians learn firsthand how Congress operates while learning valuable skills and gaining important networking opportunities. I’m confident that they will greatly benefit our staff and serve AL02 well throughout the summer months.”

"It is more important now than ever to exercise your constitutional right to participate in government," Nick said. "In order to do so, it is vital that we understand how our government operates. I believe this experience with Congressman Moore and the rest of his staff provided me with the valuable insight and experience necessary to pursue a career that will enable me to best serve my local community.”
Nick grew up in Dothan, Alabama, where he graduated from Northview High School in 2017. After recently graduating from Auburn with a degree in Nutrition Science, he will begin medical school at UAB in August. During his time at Auburn, Nick was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and also helped lead various student organizations like Student Recruiters and Global Medical Training. Nick has enjoyed learning more about how Congress operates, serving the people in his district, and forming meaningful connections.

"I am honored to be part of Congressman Moore's team for the summer, and I am excited to help serve the great people of the 2nd district," Conner said.
Conner is from Birmingham, AL, where he graduated from Mountain Brook High School in 2018. He now attends the University of Alabama and is a rising senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a minor in History. Conner hopes to continue his education post-graduation by attending law school. In Tuscaloosa, Conner is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, where he serves the chapter on the Executive Committee. He is excited to gain knowledge and insight into the inner workings of government and to help serve the people of the 2nd district of Alabama.

“Interning in a congressional office is truly an honor and privilege," Hope said. "I am so grateful that my first experience has been in Congressman Moore’s office alongside his amazing staff. Getting to meet and help serve the people of AL02 has been an extremely valuable experience that has contributed to both my professional and personal development.”
Hope was born and raised in Wetumpka, Alabama, and graduated from Elmore County High School in 2017. She is also a recent graduate from the University of South Alabama, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. During her undergraduate career, Hope was actively involved in the Student Government Association, USA Southerners, the Honors College, and undergraduate research in organic chemistry. She will attend the University of Alabama School of Law in the fall and is looking forward to serving the people of Alabama in her legal career.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside Congressman Moore and his staff, especially being able to work in Wetumpka," Lucas said. "The exposure this internship offers, particularly to the inspiring constituents and communities that make up this district, has made me even more appreciative to call this district my home.”
Lucas Lynn is a lifetime Wetumpka resident and 2018 graduate of Wetumpka High School. After graduating high school, he went on to Duke University, where he is currently a rising senior double-majoring in Computer Science and Cultural Anthropology with a certificate in Ethics. At Duke, Lucas is President of the Marching and Pep Band, a Resident Assistant, and a Fellow with the Kenan Institute of Ethics.
Since last summer, Lucas has also been interning with the City of Wetumpka Building Department, primarily working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map Wetumpka, assist development, and inform investments in infrastructure.
