The Moore You Know Newsletter: October 2021
Welcome to our October wrap-up newsletter. The month was full of scary news out of Washington with Democrats pushing frightening, far-Left policies on Capitol Hill and from the White House. I’m doing all I can to fight these socialist proposals and to demand answers and solutions to the many crises we are facing.
Our values and way of life are under attack, but I promise that I will continue to fight for you, your family, and Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District.
Please visit the Events page on our website to stay informed on all of our events in the district.

Sincerely,
Congressman Barry Moore
HIGHLIGHTS

Honoring Our Fallen Heroes
On October 25th, the House passed a bill to award the Congressional Gold Medal to the 13 heroes we lost during our evacuation from Afghanistan. This is just a small way to honor these great Americans, and I was proud to cosponsor this legislation.

Fighting for a Proper Education
Americans across the country are alarmed at actions the Department of Justice is taking to silence parents with legitimate concerns about the education of their children. Bowing to pressure from outside groups, Attorney General Merrick Garland took steps to use the PATRIOT Act to investigate parents who protest to their local school boards against Critical Race Theory and mask mandates for schoolchildren.
In a free society, Big Government can never take the place of parents in raising our children. I joined twoletters to the Biden administration seeking an end to the Department of Justice’s actions and expressing the need to keep racist curriculum out of our schools, and I co-sponsored the Combatting Racist Teaching in Schools Act. This fight is not going away.

Defending our Men and Women in Uniform
I was proud to lead a letter to Defense Secretary Austin requesting an immediate delay of COVID19 vaccination requirements for members of the military and civilian contractors. I had ten colleagues join me in highlighting the concerns of medical professionals over virus and vaccine-related health issues, especially myocarditis, and their potential to significantly threaten military readiness.
It’s imperative that we remind our servicemembers, veterans and their families that they are not alone. If you or a loved one need assistance, please find several helpful resources here.

Advocating for our Hard-working Farmers
I also wrote a letter to the Secretary of Agriculture asking him to reconsider his position on the USDA's requirement for the mandatory vaccination of all state and county FSA committee members. We should not hamstring the USDA’s mission by punishing FSA leaders and public servants who play such an important role as advocates for their communities and their industry. Too many policy changes – especially those impacting agriculture – occur far from those most often impacted, and this decision by USDA is no exception.

Supply Chain Sadness
Shelves across the country are bare because of workforce shortages that have left a record number of container ships waiting to enter ports. We must get the American people back to work and start filling the empty positions all over the nation. I will keep fighting to promote economic policies that empower the American people and alleviate the Biden supply chain crisis.

Stop the Snoop
The Democrats' IRS snooping scheme would have significant real-world impacts for community banks and the people they serve. To learn more about this far-reaching proposal, I spoke with Jeff Kervin, CEO of Troy Bank & Trust. Mr. Kervin was kind enough to shed light on how this dangerous policy proposal in Washington would impact the Wiregrass. Watch our conversation on Facebook to learn more.
