The Moore You Know: April
Welcome to our April newsletter! This month, we worked to rein in out-of-control government spending, restore confidence in elections, support our veterans, and bring transparency back to American government. If you need help from my office with the VA, IRS, passports with the State Department, or another federal agency, please reach out to us. We’ve resolved over 6,000 cases since I took office in 2021. Our values and way of life are under attack, but I promise that I will continue to fight for you, your family, and Alabama’s 1st Congressional District. Please reach out to my office at barrymoore.house.gov or 202-225-2901 if we can help you or your family in any way. |
Celebrating Christ’s Redemption |
This month, I spoke on the Second Chance Month panel alongside Rep. Aderholt. I was honored to share my testimony and recognize the power of Christ's redemption. As we celebrated Easter this month, I am reminded of Christ's invitation for us to step into new life with Him. |
Protecting Everyday Americans |
This month I introduced the Why Does the IRS Need Guns Act. The IRS has consistently been weaponized against American citizens. Arming these agents does not make the American public safer. My legislation would disarm these agents, auction off their guns to Federal Firearms License Owners, and sell their ammunition to the public. |
Getting American Families Out of the Dark |
I introduced the Family Notification of Death in Custody Act alongside Reps. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37), John Rutherford (FL-05), and Glenn Ivey (MD-04). Families deserve to be informed when their loved one has died, has a serious illness, or sustains an injury while in custody. This legislation would require the Department of Justice and Bureau of Prisons to implement clear procedures for notifying families if these events occur and is a step toward transparency and accountability that ensures no family is left in the dark. |
Grateful for an Outstanding Team of Interns |
My Washington office has been blessed with two great interns throughout the past few months! They’ve both done an outstanding job and have a promising future ahead of them! From left to right, Catherine West, an Auburn University graduate and Emmeline Waldon, a graduate from the University of Alabama. Thank you both for your hard work! |
This month, my office hosted a Veterans Benefits Fair. We were able to provide our local Veterans with information on travel pay, in-home care, aid and attendance monthly checks, prosthetics, dental, physical therapy, hearing aids and VA disability compensation. It was an honor to meet these men and women. If you were not able to make it, my office is always available to help you through issues with the VA. Please do not hesitate to contact one of my district offices or my office in DC. |
Sharing a D.C. Update in Mobile County |
I spoke at the municipal dinner for the Mobile Chamber of Commerce this month to give a legislative update. Thank you to everyone who came to hear an update from Washington, D.C! |
Celebrating Growth in Dothan |
This month I was able to tour the new Amazon facility in Dothan. It was great to see the jobs and growth this facility has brought to our local area. I enjoyed learning more about the technology and meeting their team. |
Meeting with AL-01's future leaders
|
I was able to tour Orange Beach High School and had the pleasure of speaking to the students. I walked around and heard the projects they have been working on. It was great to see the hard work they've been putting in and am excited to see all they accomplish in the future. |
