Biden's busted budget

Our country is nearly $33 trillion dollars in debt, and it’s time for the government to actually do something about it. We know Bidenomics is not the answer. Americans’ average household spending has increased, and their average real wages have decreased since Biden took office. During the August work period, I heard from constituents who were struggling to afford their monthly bills, gas, and groceries.

The population of the United States has only increased by 1.8 percent since 2019. However, due to the many spending increases instituted during the COVID-19 pandemic that have yet to be rescinded, the government is currently spending $400,000 per person. Despite the massive increase, a CNBC poll found that 70 percent of Americans say they feel financially stressed. That’s because more government spending isn’t a solution – it’s kicking the can down the road and imposing a 17 percent inflation tax on the American people.

Many of my constituents aren’t just upset about how much the government is spending, but what they are spending it on. Biden’s budget is set to spend $2 trillion more than it takes in this year to fund many agencies and programs that are at odds with the American people. We have a Department of Homeland Security that allows open borders, a Federal Bureau of Investigation that targets parents as terrorists, a Department of Justice focused on prosecuting the president’s chief political opponent, and an Internal Revenue Service that wants to hire 87,000 more people to spy on Americans’ purchases. I will not fund these woke, weaponized agencies without demanding change.

I will vote to fund a government that prioritizes operational control of our southern border to end the slew of deadly fentanyl and human trafficking, halts unconstitutional abortion funding through the Department of Defense, rejects all COVID-19 mandate funding, and returns spending to pre-COVID levels. I am not interested in shutting down the government, but I will not vote to fund more of the same disastrous Democrat policies.

The Washington spending spree is bankrupting the next generation of Americans, and the power of the purse is the most effective tool the House of Representatives has to fight for change. Americans did not elect a Republican majority so we could give in to the Democrat status quo. We desperately need to secure our border and rein in spending to protect our children and grandchildren. They deserve better.
