I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the wonderful veterans, caretakers, and vendors who participated in my Veterans Healthcare Fair at my Wetumpka office. The turnout for this helpful and informative event was fantastic, and I was glad to be able to facilitate getting our veterans and families the information they need to ensure they get the best healthcare available. My office makes constituent services a priority, and we love being able to help our veterans. Many veterans and their families are worried about the recent TRICARE changes due to a contract issue between the Department of Defense and Express Scripts. We are continuing to investigate possible legislative fixes, and I’ve been working with my colleagues Reps. Diana Harshbarger and Buddy Carter, both independent pharmacists, on this issue. I’ve also joined letters seeking answers from the Department of Defense. Until this issue is resolved, my office is available to educate constituents on the changes and direct them to resources for help.

The Biden administration’s Department of Justice recently joined a lawsuit claiming an Alabama law passed to protect children from receiving puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and sex reassignment surgeries for the purpose of changing the appearance of their gender is somehow unconstitutional. DOJ then subpoenaed Eagle Forum of Alabama, a conservative group that was not even involved in the litigation, to get all their records concerning this legislation. This is another example of outrageous political persecution by the Biden administration. I joined an amicus brief to the court requesting it squash this subpoena of Eagle Forum. Fortunately, days ago, Judge Liles Burke ruled in our favor. But this is unlikely to be the last time the Biden administration acts inappropriately. The Administration must be held accountable if Republicans take control of Congress.

With the House in recess, I’ve been travelling across our district holding town halls, and visiting schools, farmers, small businesses, healthcare facilities, civic groups, and first responders. Despite the troubles in our country, there is a great deal of hope for our future. I’m especially encouraged by our students I meet in schools. Even though they can’t vote yet, our young people care about our country, and I am hopeful our best days are ahead. *** As part of my commitment to serving Alabamians, my offices in Wetumpka, Dothan, Andalusia, and Troy can help if you are having an issue with Social Security benefits, veterans’ services, passports, or any other federal matter.
