Biden's war on American energy
Since his first day in the White House, President Biden has prioritized wealthy environmentalist donors over hardworking American families. One of his first acts was canceling the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have provided thousands of American jobs and supplied over 830,000 barrels of oil to the United States each year.
This decision massively increased our reliance on foreign adversaries for oil, caused Biden to draw from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and immediately drove up gas prices. In fact, gas prices are expected to rise to $3.50/gallon on average by Election Day. Despite those increases in energy costs, Biden recently banned liquid natural gas (LNG) exports. Limiting future LNG exports is a gift to Vladimir Putin that jeopardizes our national security and the global energy market.
House Republicans’ energy priorities are vastly different.
One of the first things we did this Congress was pass H.R.1, The Lower Energy Costs Act. This legislation would increase American energy production and stifle Biden’s red tape that makes it harder for energy companies to meet our infrastructure needs. These companies want to create jobs from the fields of Texas to the shores of Alabama. Why would we rely on China and Russia when we can produce energy right here at home?
And we didn’t stop there. House Republicans also passed the Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act of 2024, which reverses Biden’s ban on liquid natural gas exports. This single action would add $73 billion to our economy and create over 450,000 American jobs.
This week, we passed several more bills to combat Biden’s war on American energy. The Restoring American Energy Dominance Act blocks the Biden Administration’s mandate to increase the royalty rate, fees, and preference criteria for producing energy on American land. The Protecting American Energy Production Act ends Biden’s ban on fracking. House Republicans also voted to condemn Biden’s anti-American energy policies that are stifling American production and skyrocketing energy prices.
In May of last year, more than 20,000,000 American households were behind on their energy bills due to price increases. Couple that with Biden’s 17.9% inflation tax on all goods and services, and it’s no wonder so many Americans are having trouble making ends meet.
President Biden may answer to his wealthy environmentalist donors, but House Republicans answer to the American people. We are fighting for common sense solutions that unleash American energy to create jobs, bolster national security and end Biden’s inflation crisis.
