There’s an old law school saying, coined by a former New York Supreme Court justice, that a grand jury can “indict a ham sandwich.” This adage has gained popularity in the 38 years since it was uttered because grand juries only hear one side of the case during the indictment proceedings.

Former President Trump’s recent indictment was disturbing proof of this, so I served ham sandwiches in my Washington, D.C. office last week to welcome him to the “Indicted for Political Purposes Club.”

After I was indicted for political purposes back in 2014, I saw more support than ever. We need to extend that same support to President Trump and stand against the disturbing weaponization of our judicial system.

This week, I traveled to Montgomery, Dothan, and Andalusia for three Farm Bill listening sessions. It was wonderful to hear direct input from farmers, ranchers, foresters and invested stakeholders about what they want to see in the 2023 Farm Bill reauthorization.

We discussed crop insurance and disaster assistance, help for young and beginning farmers, foreign agricultural acquisition, and credit access and technical assistancestrong farm safety nets, diversified packing capacity, conservation programming, and many more important items. Thanks to everyone who was able to join us!

As we celebrate Easter, we have the opportunity to reflect on Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. We can joyously proclaim His triumph over death; His ascension to the right hand of the Father and the gift of everlasting life He offers to all who repent and believe in him. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Easter filled with faith, family, and delicious food.
