The border is our backyard
Since the day the Biden-Harris Administration chose to overturn every single one of President Trump’s policies securing our southern border, House Republicans have warned that the border crisis would end up in our backyard.
It’s here.
From New York City, to Ohio, to Alabama, the Administration can no longer deny the danger they have put American families in. Last year, two young girls in my district were raped by illegal immigrants who entered our country as got aways in 2021.
Now, cities across Alabama, including my hometown of Enterprise, are struggling to deal with a sudden influx of unvetted migrants needing work and housing. Biden and Harris sent them to our state, but they didn’t provide us with any resources to care for them.
That’s because the federal government can’t afford those resources.
Our government does not allow American families to take in children they do not have the resources to care for. So why are Biden and Harris forcing our communities to take in people we can’t care for when we are $35 TRILLION in debt?
The answer is simple. Many of these migrants are given ID cards and assigned social security numbers – these items plus proof of a United States address such as an electric bill allow you to vote in elections in some states, even if non-citizen voting is technically illegal.
That’s why I voted in support of a continuing resolution for the first time ever this week. I believe the only threat to our nation greater than our national debt is the Democrats’ desire to manipulate our elections and benefit from the border crisis they created. This continuing resolution would have funded our government for six months and made the SAVE Act, which requires proof of citizenship to vote, the law of the land.
The resolution did not pass, but I will continue to fight to secure our border and pass the SAVE Act to protect our right to vote. My office will also continue to monitor the migrant influx across our state, and we hope you will reach out to us and share any experiences or concerns you have.
If you need help from my office with the VA, IRS, or another federal agency, or if we can help you with a government service like processing a passport request, I hope you will reach out to us. We’ve resolved over 5,300 cases since I took office in 2021.
