A Lifeline for Farmers: How President Trump’s Bill Delivers for Rural America

President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill is more than a historic win for the American taxpayer - it’s a lifeline for our farmers. As a member of the House Agriculture Committee and a proud voice for Alabama’s farming families, I fought to ensure this legislation delivered real results for rural America.

Under President Biden, Washington bureaucrats ignored the needs of the folks who feed and fuel this nation. But thanks to President Trump’s leadership, we’re quickly changing that. This bill increases reference prices for key commodities, strengthens crop insurance protections, and helps secure the future of more than 60,000 hardworking Alabama farmers.

We didn’t just stop there. The One Big Beautiful Bill also raises the death tax exemption threshold to $15 million, protecting thousands of family farms from being gutted by the IRS.

Another issue our agriculture community is facing is the threat of feral swine. This is why I introduced legislation in the House to curb the threat of Feral Swine in rural communities. Feral swine are a growing threat that tear up farmland, destroy crops, spread disease to other livestock, and cause an estimated $50 million in agricultural damage in Alabama each year.

President Trump and Republicans showed their commitment to ending this issue by including the Feral Swine Eradication Program within the One Big Beautiful Bill. This provision equips the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to work with states and local partners to control and eliminate these animals. This is about protecting our producers, preserving our land, and making sure rural America doesn’t foot the bill for this damage.

Disaster relief also got a major boost. After years of flooding, drought, and hurricane damage, our producers need fast, dependable aid. The One Big, Beautiful Bill ensures those funds are available without the strings attached that are so often found when Washington gets involved.

We built this package with the real-world needs of farmers in mind. I grew up on a farm. I understand what’s at stake when the crops fail, or when a family’s future is tied to a piece of land. This bill is about making sure our farmers thrive, not just survive.

America’s agriculture community spoke, and Republicans listened. Thanks to President Trump’s bold leadership, and the work Republicans did in Congress, rural America has a seat at the table once again. I will continue to work to ensure our Alabama farmers have the resources they need to continue feeding and clothing our nation.
