117th Congress

Congress ended the year by stuffing the American people’s stocking with a huge lump of coal in the form of an almost $2 trillion omnibus spending bill. It is disappointing so many Senate Republicans voted in favor of this bill and surrendered our leverage to use the power of the purse to fight the Biden administration’s radical policies.
Washington, D.C. — Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL) issued the following statement after voting against the omnibus spending bill that passed the House this afternoon and is heading to the President’s desk. Instead of the timely consideration and passage of twelve separate appropriations bills, Congress punted the FY2023 spending bill until the lame-duck session by passing legislation extending previous spending levels past the original September deadline until this month.

Washington, D.C. — Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) released the following statement after voting against a one-week continuing resolution (CR) that will force lawmakers to vote on a massive $1.7 trillion omnibus funding bill hours before Christmas.

The fentanyl crisis fueled by our wide-open southern border is one of the greatest threats facing our nation, yet President Biden continues his policies fanning the flames.
It is my honor to earn another two years representing Alabama’s Second Congressional District. Thank you! I’d also like to congratulate my new colleagues Dale Strong, who will represent Alabama’s 5th Congressional District, and Katie Britt, who will represent our state in the Senate. The Wiregrass should be proud to have one of our own in the Senate. With elections in our state behind us, all eyes must turn toward the Democrat mission to advance a lame-duck spending bill amid rampant inflation.
