Rep. Barry Moore supports bill to designate bald eagle as the national bird
Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Barry Moore released a statement after proudly voting in favor of S. 4610, legislation to officially designate the bald eagle as the national bird of the United States. The bald eagle has been an enduring emblem of American ideals for centuries, appearing on military insignia, government seals, and countless cultural symbols. This legislation solidifies its status as the official national bird while honoring its historic role in representing the United States.
“From its place on the Great Seal in 1782 to its comeback from near extinction, the bald eagle has always stood as a symbol of America’s strength, freedom, and resilience,” said Moore. “As an Auburn graduate, there’s nothing like watching the eagle soar before kickoff, hearing the crowd roar ‘War Eagle,’ and feeling a sense of freedom and pride. It’s a reminder to stand tall, push forward, and never back down—just like our nation has and always will.”
